The ADA and related state laws do nothing, in and of themselves, to guaranty disability access. Without enforcement, these important laws are just paper tigers. Neither the U.S. Department of Justice nor the California Attorney General’s Office have the resources necessary to implement disability rights compliance everywhere it’s needed. That’s why it is so critical for private citizens with qualified disabilities to take action. The laws were intended to be enforced by private citizens – by activists willing to take on the neglect, ignorance and discrimination they encounter in their own communities. Be the solution. Your rights and the rights of others depend on it.
